Surely Sam doesn’t like sport...
Well actually, yes I do, but if I’m honest, I really don’t care for football, and can’t be bothered with tennis. However, fitting in with the fact that the other things I do are pretty unconventional for your typical teenager, the same is true for the sports I love!

Kayaking
I love to Kayak... its loads of fun, and it’s not just about sitting in a plastic boat. Kayaking is about adventure, fun, and building a relationship with the water. When you imagine a kayak, you’ll probably imagine a tiny four foot long flimsy looking boat in a naff bright colour. However, to me a kayak is long, fast and streamlined. I use an Easky 15 Kayak from Venture Kayaks, which is a fast touring kayak, with retractable skeg and lots of room for equipment for long trips. I also use a paddle by Ainsworth. The best place I have ever kayaked is Ullswater. By far. Although Mary Lake in Canada is pretty awesome.

Sailing
Sailing is just so much fun. I love whizzing around in a topper or a lazer, but best of all is working on a Yacht. I spent a month this summer working on the S/Y Next Wave, a 42 meter ship (a Gaff - Rigged Ketch for all those interested) based in the Mediterranean. She’s a beautiful but slow girl, and I have many happy memories of being aboard in the UK in 2007, and the med in 2009.

Cycling
I love being on water but I also love being on the road. I’m not nearly hardcore or cool enough to get involved with stunts of off-roading, but I just love to be on my bike in the beautiful Cheshire countryside. I also loved spending a day cycling in the Swiss alps in 2008.

Power Juggling
Fine, ok, yes, I love to juggle too. If you know a bit about this then I’m a technical juggler at heart, and can do pretty much anything from the simple Cascade to Mill’s Mess or even Rubenstein’s Revenge. Is this really a sport? Yes. There are special thuds (technical term for balls) called ‘power balls’ which are very heavy, and do your arms a lot of good!
